Present at the Sunday walk of the Athenians was also the… Traffic Police, with the police officers carrying out checks in the entire Attica Basin and “cutting” 192 calls and referring 17 drivers to justice for numerous violations of the Road Traffic Code from 6 in the morning of Sunday until the same time on Saturday.

The police officers of the Attica Traffic Directorate checked 627 vehicles (432 cars, 15 cars and 180 motorcycles) and confirmed 209 violations by 154 drivers. In 19 cases the vehicles were immobilized, while 37 driver’s licenses, 34 driving licenses and 12 license plates were taken away.

Most of the violations (29) related to not using seat belts and helmets (15), while 24 drivers were detected by breathalyzers to have consumed more than the permitted amount of alcohol.

In 14 cases the drivers were speeding, two were performing stunts, one violated a red light and 15 violated other regulatory signs. Four uninsured vehicles were detected, three that had not passed KTEO, while another 115 violations were recorded.
