THE prosecutor of the Supreme Court Georgia Adeline, According to reports ordered the Thessaloniki First Instance Prosecutor’s Office to carry out an investigation regarding an online post under the heading “innocent violent fans due to statute of limitations” which states that the sentences imposed on 23 convicted fans for the incidents are statute-barred which had taken place in March 2016 during the PAOK-Olympiakou match in Toumba.
According to the post, the trial at the Three-member Misdemeanor Court of Thessaloniki for the fan incidents took place 6 years after the day of the incidents, specifically in December 2022. It took 15 months to finalize the decision, i.e. from December 2022 to February 2024 .
For the episodes in question, 6 were acquitted and 23 were convicted, while 20 of those convicted appealed against the first instance decision, but it took 15 months for the decision to be finalized and there is a risk of statute of limitations.
