The possibility that it is due to a war “of the night” the explosion on a plot of land opposite a gas station in Piraeus is being seriously examined by the police authorities.

According to the information of the SKAI police reporter, Theodosis Panou, 7 kilograms of dynamite caused a powerful explosion that occurred at 03:20 in the morning on Omiridou Skylitsi Street.

The police are investigating whether it is a settlement of accounts, as in the past the particular gas station belonged to a man who was involved with the Greek mafia and has now been murdered.

However, the new owner has not concerned the authorities.

Officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EOD) of the Hellenic Police are investigating the remains to determine the type of bomb used and to identify any evidence that could potentially lead to the perpetrators.

explosion

According to witnesses, a month ago, a black vehicle passing by the spot fired a Kalashnikov at the gas station, which was assessed as a warning shot.

Initial police searches focused on the parked cars and the plot to see if it was the subject of a dispute, but no evidence was found.

explosion

It is recalled that the explosion caused by the 7 kilograms of dynamite that had been placed on the plot, occurred while there were workers at the gas station.

The explosion was so powerful that cars – at least 7 – were damaged, as well as windows of shops and apartments were broken.

The case has been taken over by the security extortion prosecution department.

According to EL.AS, the site was investigated by officers of the Explosive Device Disposal Department of the Greek Police, however, no findings were found, in order to determine what caused the explosion, which caused serious material damage to vehicles and residences as well as to the gas station .
