He was arrested last Thursday (7/3) in the area of ​​Kineta, a 48-year-old man for participating in a criminal group with the purpose of committing distinguished cases of theft and robbery, as an accomplice and as a follow-up.

In particular, on Thursday morning, the accused, together with accomplices who are wanted, moving by car in the area of ​​Kinetta, broke into a house removing gold.

During their escape from the house, police officers, who were on patrol, noticed the incident with the assistance of police officers from the DIAS Team. they immobilized the 48-year-old, and took him to the headquarters of the Building Security Department.

As it emerged from the investigation, the 48-year-old along with other accomplices, at least since January 2024, organized with the purpose of committing robberies and thefts from houses in the area of ​​Kineta.

In particular, in terms of their mode of action, the perpetrators, mainly in the morning and evening hours, chose cottages that were not inhabited during the winter months and managed to gain access to their interior with the use of burglary tools. They then removed jewellery, sums of money and other items.

In one case when they were noticed by the owner of the residence they did not hesitate to use violence or threats in order to ensure their escape.

From the preliminary investigation so far, 5 thefts from houses in Kineta, and 2 thefts from houses in Agioi Theodorou and Mandra have been discovered.

It is noted that an arrest warrant was pending against the 48-year-old for participating in a criminal organization that extorted people in Megara.

The arrested person was taken to the competent Prosecutor while the investigation to ascertain the extent of the criminal activity continues.
