From Wednesday, March 13 up to and including Saturday, May 4 the “Lent Basket” comes into force, which is an extension of the “Household Basket” already in force.

In the “Lent Basket” three new food categories are added:

• Halva
• Fasting Salads (ointments – eggplant salads, taramo salads, etc.)
• Frozen seafood (at least two types)

For the product categories included in the “household basket”, the obliged enterprises send the relevant list of products to the Ministry of Development, and in particular at least one product from each product category included in the “basket”.

According to the decision published in the Government Gazette, where it is foreseen, the debtors must include in the list they send to the ministry at least one name-label product. Businesses that do not offer branded products in the respective category to the consumer public are exempt from the obligation.

The categories of products included in the “household basket” are:

Loaf bread (standard/packaged)

Spaghetti No. 6
Flour for all uses
Legumes (lentils)
Legumes (beans)
Legumes (chickpeas)
Paris
Turkey (sausage)
Frozen fish
Fresh pork (packaged or not)

Fresh beef (packaged or not)

Fresh milk with low fat
Highly pasteurized (long life) whole milk

Evaporated milk
