A viper was walking on Wednesday morning (13/3) in a house in Afanos Lamias.

The owner of the house familiar with nature, take care to remove the snake, with the specific species also being dangerous for humans. However, as he told LamiaReport, the viper never attacks a human unless it feels threatened or you step on it, as happens most of the time in fields where it hides extremely well.

(See how it doesn’t stand out next to the pot)

The good weather, almost all winter, resulted not only in the plants, which bloomed before Spring was well on its way, but also in the hibernating animals. They usually “wake up” at the beginning of April, but already from the first half of March, snakes roam the yards.

Some snakes in Greece are considered endangered species (such as the little viper). They are beneficial for nature and for human societies as they feed on mice and rats, so we better make sure they don’t come near our houses (cleaning plots of grass and garbage). Unfortunately, because many do not know their usefulness, but also the fact that the vast majority of them are harmless and they try to kill them, thus favoring the existence of other harmful animals.
