Work has begun to repair the damage to the Aegina submarine pipeline
They started the works for the repair of the damage to the Aegina submarine pipeline.
The contractor with clear orders and direction to start work immediately, on the basis of a tight schedule, started the process of assembling the special part required to repair the damage.
It is recalled that with her document, the District Attorney of Piraeus had accepted both requests of the Regional Governor of Attica, in order to immediately vacate the space at the point of the leak for the start of restoration work, and also to appoint a special independent expert to supervise the correct execution of the project, while on Tuesday a special meeting was held at the Central Port Authority of Piraeus, in order to ensure all the necessary protocols.
It is noted that the prosecutor’s opinion – after Hardalia’s indictment – referred to a “failure in the process of welding the pipes”, considering that the specifications were not met during the process of heat-gluing them, with the Regional Governor of Attica showing direct reflexes by putting the manufacturing company before its responsibilities for the immediate restoration of the damage in the context of its contractual obligations.
“The contractor acts on the basis of the provisions of the relevant contract in the event of construction failure. The water will come back to the houses of Aegina as we had promised from the beginning”, said associates of Nikos Hardalia.
Competent sources stress that a safe estimate for the completion of restoration work will be made in the next 48 hours, adding that up to four days are required to fully restore water supply to the island.
