New criminal file against the former Minister of Transport Kostas Ax. Karamanlis was referred to the Parliament for the Tempe train accident, as the vice-president of the parliament Thanasis Bouras announced a little while ago in the plenary session.
According to information, the case file was sent by the court 2 days ago, on March 13, and was formed after a lawsuit filed by an injured person – a survivor of the accident. The ex-Minister is being dismissed for the offenses of grievous bodily harm, disturbing the safety of transport and manslaughter, with the injured party leaving the Italian company, Hellenic Train and the station master, among others.
The case file was forwarded under Article 86 of the Constitution and the Ministerial Accountability Act, which means a pre-investigation committee can be set up if a request is made by 30 MPs.
It is recalled that the final conclusion of the Parliament’s inquiry committee, which investigates the causes of the railway accident, will be discussed in the Plenary next Wednesday, March 20, following a request submitted by 64 MPs of the New Democracy.
