The Electricity Department of the Municipality of Athens proceeded with extensive work to improve the lighting in Victoria Square, after America Square. In particular, the damage to the LED lights was repaired, the mechanisms and lamps were changed, the headlights that did not work were replaced, the top lights were replaced and new LED lights were installed.
In his statement the mayor of Athens Haris Doukas noted: “Our goal is to light up every corner, every square and every neighborhood of our city. After America Square, Victoria Square also comes to life. Lighting is about safety, community and the vibrant pulse of Athens. The new municipal authority operates in an organized manner for the benefit of the citizens. Our goal is to improve the daily life of Athenians, to upgrade the image of our city, combined with significant energy savings. With each new light that is lit, we open a chapter of hope and reduce the factors that favor delinquency.”
On his part, Mr Deputy Mayor of Infrastructure Andreas Grammatikogiannis emphasized: “Athens is illuminated in an organized and supervised manner. At the same time, the Electrical Department of the Municipality of Athens, in collaboration with accredited laboratories, checks the installation and operation of the new LED lighting fixtures as part of the city’s street lighting project. Our goal is both to identify and repair malfunctions and to further eliminate them, so that the project is delivered according to specifications, fully functional, with the minimum, if possible, operating costs.”
In February, the work to improve the lighting in America Square was also completed. Lighting fixtures were installed on the 2 traditional masts located on the square, three 3m high masts were installed. with Led lights, a 9m high mast was placed. with a quadruple arm and a check was made of the proper operation of all the lighting fixtures in the square.
With the slogan “Light in every neighborhood”, the municipality of Athens continues its program to improve the lighting of urban areas, keeping to the highest standards, with a vision of a city that shines in every sense.
