Every year, on March 20, World Meatless Day is celebrated — a date that emerged from an initiative by the American NGO Farm. Around the world, supporters and defenders of vegetarianism and veganism are taking actions to rethink meat consumption in the world.

The idea of ​​the movement is also to encourage people not to consume meals with animal protein on that date. In São Paulo, there is a varied list of vegetarian and vegan restaurants and other traditional restaurants that include options without meat and animal derivatives on their menus.

The Best of São Paulo jury elected the restaurant as the best Arabic restaurant in the city in 2023. Specializing in Middle Eastern food, the restaurant is run by chef Fred Caffarena and gastrologist Talita Silveira. There, you can find different combinations that include hummus, such as a dish served with roasted cauliflower, olive oil, lemon and coriander leaves (R$42). The chickpea paste can also be accompanied by fried eggs cooked in tomato sauce, forming an enhanced shakshuka (R$40).

Sushi, temakis, hot rolls and other oriental dishes are prepared with fruits, vegetables and soy proteins at this vegan Japanese restaurant, which started as a delivery service. Voted the best pizzeria in São Paulo by Datafolha and the fifth best in the world by the Italian ranking 50 Top World Artisan Pizza Chains, the restaurant launches four vegan flavors to celebrate World Meat Free Day. Among the new products is the so-called 50 Top, which in the vegan version is prepared with five vegetable cheeses (R$ 129), while the castelões flavor includes Italian tomato sauce, mozzarella and vegetable pepperoni (R$ 117). Two vegan desserts will also join the pizzeria’s menu on the 20th.

The family-owned pizzeria has been operating for 12 years in the Pinheiros neighborhood. In addition to the traditional options, the restaurant has a vegan menu with olive appetizers (R$28) and eggplant (R$52), four flavors of savory pizza and a sweet option.
