Out of jail leads decision of the Five-member Court of Appeal of Thessaloniki 50 yearswho was convicted of a revenge pornography case. The appellate court recognized him as a mitigating factor of prior legal life, with the result that the original sentence of 6 years imprisonment was reduced to 4 years (and two months) imprisonment and turned into a redeemable one (for 5 euros/day).

His victim, according to the case file, was a woman with whom he had an extramarital relationship. When the accused found out that the woman was still in contact with her (now ex) husband, he sent – via a popular social networking platform – material from their private moments to her minor children. This material allegedly ended up with the children’s friends, while it was later “uploaded” to a pornographic website.

The case unfolded in 2016 in a region of Central Macedonia, with the defendant being referred to trial for felony personal data breach and extortion, because he asked the victim to allow him a sum of 200 euros.

In his apology he attributed his action to drunkenness, stressing that he had been “in love” with the woman, while stating that he felt offended by words spoken against him by the ex-husband.

He was found guilty of both offences, just as he was at trial last April when he was sent to prison after being convicted.
