He was sentenced to a total prison term of 9.5 months, suspended for 3 years 30-year-old man who attacked a two-wheeled policeman, because he “cut off” a call for illegal parking on Vasilissis Olgas Avenue, in Thessaloniki.

Trying the case, with the spontaneous procedure, the Three-member Misdemeanor Court of Thessaloniki found him guilty of insult, violence against employees and violation of the drug law (because he possessed a small amount of hashish).

As emerged from the hearing, the 30-year-old had “double-parked” his car in order to buy coffee.

Leaving the cafe and as he found the certificate of infringement and the removal of the vehicle’s license plate “he started cursing me“, the policeman testified.

He took a packet of calls out of the car, put down the coffee, took my license plate and went to leave. I told him “stop you crossed the line”. As soon as I caught him he fell down, got up, walked away and punched me with the license plate in my hands. He started yelling, cursing, pushing me, I couldn’t even call for help, he was in bad shape“, said the same witness.

In his apology, the 30-year-old, originally from Georgia, acknowledged the “error” him, he said, and apologized to the policeman.

I went down to get coffee, to go to work like a man. On my way out, I saw the policeman with the pad, I shouted “I’m leaving, I’m leaving”. He didn’t pay attention to me. I was stressed and upset because he took my license plate and I didn’t know how to get to work. The way he reacted gave me reason to curse him. I freaked out, I hadn’t had any coffee. I had the small amount of drugs for personal use”he apologized and added that in the last ten days he received 4 to 5 calls for similar violations.
