The anxiety for the 12 missing passengers of the burning ship “Euroferry Olympia” is at its peak, with the investigations for their location having started with the first light of day. At the same time, enormous efforts are being made to prevent the ship from sinking.
Until last night, according to sources from the port body, the thermal loads on the ship, the darkness and the thick smoke make the work of the rescuers difficult.
According to information, inside the ship there are very high temperatures that reach 500-600 degrees Celsius, while in its tanks the Euroferry Olympia is said to have over 700 tons.
The official death toll rose from 11 to 12 last night, as one of the two people released from the ship’s garage was not on the official passenger list, but there are fears for more who had boarded the ship illegally.
As he stated to SKAI and the show “SK Parea”, the head of the Greek rescue team, George Glyofrydis, since yesterday morning when they arrived in the area, started a search in the sea area, to see if there were shipwrecks and to collect, but was not found you do.
This means that the missing are likely to remain trapped inside the ship.
