The guard of the Corinth hospital and a rescuer were attacked by a Roma group this afternoon, at approximately 6:30.

The incident occurred when the ambulance crew was delivering a patient to the emergency room. The group of Roma, under the influence of alcohol, according to testimonies, entered the hospital area in a van and attacked the two people.

According to reports, the beating was brutal, with the rescuer receiving several punches. He underwent all the necessary tests. He was immediately contacted by the president of EKAV Nikos Papaevstathiou and the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis.

The EKAV Workers’ Union denounces the unprovoked attack that took place this afternoon by a Roma group at the Corinth hospital.

In particular, two Rescuers of the EKAV Corinth were hit unnecessarily in the area of ​​the TEP during the delivery of an incident, with one suffering more serious injuries. Also, the same group damaged two EKAV ambulances that were parked in the area of ​​the TEP, hit hospital staff and then fled.

We wish our colleagues a speedy recovery and call on the EKAB Management to file lawsuits both for the beating of the colleagues and for the damage to the ambulances, the Police Authorities to proceed IMMEDIATELY with the arrest of the perpetrators and the Justice to exhaust all rigor in the imposition of penalties.
