THE Directorate of Public Health of the Region of Crete with its announcement draws the attention of the citizens, as based on the measurements carried out in the “SCHEDIA” network of the Region of Crete in collaboration with the University of Crete and the Technical University of Crete, there are observed increased values of AS10 concentrations, as a result of transferred dust towards the region of the Eastern Mediterranean.
Concentrations, as reported, are expected to be increased today Wednesday March 27 and tomorrow, Thursday March 28 throughout Crete and especially in western Crete (above 50 µg/m³), based on the air quality forecast.
The development of the phenomenon is closely monitoredas marked λ, by the PLAN network.
“The Service will come back with newer instructions in accordance with the circular of the Ministry of Health No. Prot: D1(d)/Gp. 10655 “Recommendations for the protection of Public Health from smog incidents” as soon as the forecasts regarding the exceedances of suspended particulate matter (AS10) values are finalized,” the announcement typically states.
In addition, depending on the level of the estimated 24-hour concentrations, the recommendations and meters include, among other things, limiting intense exercise especially outdoors, for heart patients and people with respiratory problems, but also the use of inhalations, a relieving medicine.
