An apartment building tenant with an unprecedented reaction is the one that kept them trapped for approx 2.5 hours in an apartment building elevator, three perpetrators of attempted theft which was noted the in the early hours of March 24th in an apartment in the district of the Holy Forty Martyrs of Larissa.

The tenant of the apartment, who a few days ago had noticed “movement” of strangers in the apartment building, heard noises on the 6th floor just after 3 am yesterday morning and so assumed it was burglars going down using the elevator, as he knew that the occupants of the 6th floor were absent from their home. This is how he went down according to information from “E” to the basement of the apartment building where and shut off the power supply to the elevator, as a result of which the three perpetrators were trapped inside it.

The tenant then went up to the 2nd floor where he heard the people trapped in the elevator talking, while at the same time he realized that the entrance to the apartment building was being opened again. Shouting, the unknown persons ran away, with the police estimating that they are two other accomplices of the arrested persons who are being sought. While the three perpetrators remained trapped for some time, the tenant called EL.AS. with police officers of the Immediate Action Department to find that the roof terrace door of the apartment building bore signs of being tampered with by a metal cutter in contrast to the 6th floor apartment where it was found not to have been tampered with. In the presence of other police officers at 5:45 in the morning, the tenant put the elevator back into operation, with the three perpetrators going down to the ground floor and opening the door to be arrested.

As noted in an announcement by EL.AS. the three perpetrators “Having their facial features covered, they attempted to escape, two of them pushing the policemen away with their hands, while the third tried to hit them with a metal iron cutter (scissors). In their possession, burglary tools were found and confiscated, as well as items to hide their characteristics (cutter, collars, gloves, etc.)”.

The three arrested, 31, 38 and 47 years old, according to the investigation of the Larissa Security Sub-Directorate, are known to the prosecuting authorities from previous thefts in houses by the method of breaking into the terraces of houses, having earlier gained access to the roofs.

A case file was filed against the arrested for attempted theft and violence against employees, to be taken yesterday before the Three-member Motor Vehicle Misdemeanor Court of Larisa where they received an adjournment in order for the owner of their apartment to appear in Court, even stating that, even though it is an attempt, they wish to compensate the owner for the damage. Their trial will take place on April 1st and until then the three Larisas have been released.
