With a life sentence the main accused for the multiple sexual abuse of the minor girl in Colonos is threatened after the decision of the Joint Jury which found him guilty of rape and a series of other serious charges.

The court found the 55-year-old owner of a mini market in Colonos guilty of rape, pimping and trafficking in pornographic material, while acquitting him of the charge of human trafficking.

The penalty provided for in the law changed in 2022 for rape and providing for severe penalties of life will be applied in the Kolonos case and therefore life for the main accused may be the sentence imposed on him.

At the same time, the Court found the mother of the minor not guilty of the main crimes she was charged with, pimping and trafficking in pornographic material, while finding her guilty of extortion, an offense punishable as a misdemeanor.

For the rest of the defendants who were accused of sexually abusing the minor, the Court acquitted six of them and sentenced 17, including the so-called “Mihalis” who was found guilty of heavy charges of aggravated pimping of child pornography, while he was acquitted of attempted sexual acts.

The Court, after pronouncing the decision which was made public, returned to the procedure behind closed doors due to the minor of the victim with the purchases of the defendants’ lawyers.

For the Kolonos case, which shocked public opinion, the prosecution proposal which was not adopted in the part about the rape in relation to the guilt of the main accused, had caused reactions, although the proposal was not a court decision and moreover the prosecutor did not propose the acquittal of the main accused but his guilt of many and heavy crimes other than rape.
