Time of fines for 300,000 unvaccinated – Posted on Taxisnet

by

The time is approaching for the fines to be imposed on approximately 300,000 citizens over the age of 60 who have not been vaccinated. Tomorrow, Monday or Tuesday at the latest, the relevant file will be forwarded by the Ministry of Digital Government to the Independent Public Revenue Authority, which is responsible for certifying the fines. According to competent sources, this will probably happen by the end of next week, when the fines will appear as a debt in their personal account in Taxisnet.

It is reminded that for the citizens over 60 years of age who were not vaccinated until January 17, 2022, an administrative fine of 100 euros is imposed every month that they remain unvaccinated. Especially for the month of January the administrative fine is fifty euros. According to the relevant joint ministerial decision, the fine will not be confirmed to those who were excluded for health reasons following a decision of the special committee that examined their request, to those over 96 years old and to those who have not been tax active for the last 3 years. The list of obligors will be checked every month for the first fortnight, so that in case the conditions are met, the citizen will be exempted from the fine or will be imposed half if he has been vaccinated with at least one dose during the above period.

About 4,700 unvaccinated health workers are awaiting decisions about their future careers.

Meanwhile, about 4,700 unvaccinated health workers are awaiting decisions about their future careers. They will remain on strike until March 31 and then either this regime will be extended – for as long as the pandemic lasts – or they will be put out of the NSS, something suggested by the leadership of the Ministry of Health. In any case, the decision on this issue will be taken at a higher governmental level.

The Minister of Interior, Makis Voridis, speaking on the Municipal Television of Thessaloniki, stated that the Ministry of Interior is ready to implement such a decision, while he rejected the term “dismissal” in terms of health. As he said, “dismissal is when I stop working with someone. When I go to the health workers and tell them, in order to provide health services you have to be vaccinated, I have not fired anyone, I have set a condition for the provision of services. If someone chooses not to comply with this condition, he chooses not to stay in the health system. It is a lack of a condition, which is obviously set for the preservation of public health. “Technically we are ready, since this will be the decision of the Minister of Health, the Ministry of Interior is ready to implement it”.
