The police investigation identified the details of a 20-year-old foreigner and a 34-year-old woman, who were the owners of the bank accounts in question, as well as a 43-year-old foreigner, who was the owner of the phone number from which the communication was made.
Astute people managed to extort the amount of 12,000 euros from a 68-year-old woman in Kozani, pretending that they would provide technical assistance in an application for the grant of a “Market Pass” allowance.
In particular, the 68-year-old complained that at the beginning of November 2023, an unknown person contacted her husband by phone, pretending to be an employee of his accountant, and after presenting false facts as true, under the pretext of granting a “Market Pass” allowance, convinced him to go to an ATM of the city of Kozani and to transfer an amount of approximately 12,000 euros from the 68-year-old’s account to two other bank accounts.

A criminal case was filed against them for fraud. A preliminary investigation into the case was carried out by the Kozani Security Department, while the case file against them will be submitted to the Kozani Criminal Prosecutor.
