The Magnesia police authorities arrested the mayor of Volos, Achilleas Beu, late last night, according to APE-MBE, after a lawsuit filed against him by the municipal councilor Kostas Gargalas for a threat.

The issue arose yesterday during the municipal council meeting, when the municipal councilor Kostas Gargalas – who was found in the seats of the Volos municipal council after he was beaten by the resigned municipal councilor Vassilis Zaheilas – was verbally attacked by the mayor, who he said “you mind”.

This phrase by Achillea Beu was perceived as a threat against Kostas Gargalas and by the municipal councilors of the same municipal faction because it was judged that he agreed with and in some way rewarded the already condemned behavior of Vassilis Zaheilas.

Kostas Gargalas decided that with the phrase “make up your mind” he and his family are threatened and that is why he filed a lawsuit against the mayor.

Then the mayor Achilleas Beos was arrested in the context of the autoforos, but he followed the order of the prosecutor and was released.

Beu’s answer: “The autoforo is not reserved for Mayors”

The mayor of Volos Ah gives his own answer. Beos regarding his arrest, according to magnesianews.gr, noting that he was not arrested and that the autoforum is not observed for Mayors.

“Regarding my alleged arrest after a lawsuit filed against me by the well-known Gargalas, I note the following:

It is the inalienable right of every citizen to file a lawsuit for whatever reason he deems necessary, assuming of course the corresponding responsibilities. However, it is also a basic obligation of the Prosecution Authorities to evaluate and judge the seriousness of each lawsuit, before proceeding with any procedure.

In my case there is no issue of arrest. I came to the Police Station voluntarily, signed and left. After all, the autoforo procedure is not observed for Mayors.
