Although she belongs to the generation that had to find a job and survive the crisis, talent and luck played an important role in her success. The reason for Smaragda Adamopoulou, Matoula from SKAI’s drama series “The Pantheons”, who speaks exclusively to about this particular collaboration and reveals some of the developments that we will soon see…

How do you feel about this year’s TV season?

Many nice series were made. A wide range from which the public had the opportunity to see and choose which is their favorite.

In recent years there has been a wide range of fiction proposals. How do you see this fact?

I find these years very functional as new people came out, in all fields, and put their little stone for good and quality television.

Nevertheless, there is a rumor that wants them to decrease significantly next season. Does it stress you out?

Yes. I think it would stress out any of my colleagues who work in this field. I belong to the generation that had to find a job and survive the crisis, so this anxiety exists and will exist. Our profession is already difficult and so far it has been a breath of fresh air. The only thing that perhaps calms my anxiety is that viewers love fiction and have become demanding. When the public asks, there will surely be a corresponding offer. Let’s not forget that the foreign platforms that came to Greece during the pandemic have contributed a lot to this.

How would you describe your collaboration with “Pantheus”?
My collaboration with “Pantheus” was magical! I met wonderful actors that I always wanted to work with and made new friendships that I will treasure. All the crew as well as the actors made sure that this result came out. I am grateful for this cooperation. Healthy and beautiful.

What is your relationship with awareness?

I’ve always been an outgoing person. I was talking and greeting people. I had and still need contact with the world, so I haven’t noticed a big difference! It’s just that now maybe I won’t start the conversation and they will…

Have you had any strange reactions?

I wouldn’t say that I have received any strange reaction. All I could say is that because you expose yourself, people mistakenly think they know you and think they know a lot about you, and that’s where they might want attention. However, I am a person who always sets my limits and it shows in my words. I love kindness and what comes from it and I believe that what you give, the other person will give to the next. Therefore, I really like it when I am approached and it is done in the above contexts.

Have you identified any commonalities with the Matoula you play?

Matoula and Smaragda meet in many places. We are both dynamic, we believe in ideas and fight for them with all our being, driven by a deep sense of moral code. In one element that I differ a lot with Matoula is the element of love. Even in this, Matoula will put all her wants behind and fall headfirst into the fight. That is, it will be completely given to him. On the other hand, I’m more into passion. My contact with everything whether it is personal or professional is filtered through very strong emotions.

Matoula is in exile. Will he make the decision to run away from the island?

Matoula cannot and should not sit quietly. Their society needs these people. People who sacrifice themselves for her and her liberation. People with passion and power for their ideas. People deeply educated who fight for the collective good. So something tells me he won’t be in exile for long…

Will Stathis find out about the existence of his child?

I think that because Matoula has a strong sense of justice and morality, she will choose to reveal the truth.

Will she claim him again?

She has a great love for Stathis. She wants him very much but with the existing social and political situations of the country – at that time – I believe that she will not have her mind on Stathis and will want to fight. Matoula is now called to declare her presence because this is something she has been preparing for a very long time.

How will he react when he learns about Stathi’s marriage to Aleka?

He will definitely be disappointed. I think more with herself who believed in ideals and sees them collapsing on a social as well as a personal level.

What are your next professional plans?

I still don’t know. But I know that I have a great appetite for work and to meet new people who will take me further. It is important that the artist takes time for himself between one work and the next. It is good that all intense experiences from the previous work settle down in him. These days I read a lot, watch movies and theater. I believe that in my profession I need constant contact with all the arts.
