At Thessaly the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis, is traveling for precautionary reasons Kikiliasin view of the intense weather phenomena that are expected to hit areas of the country.

“The Risk Assessment Committee was convened again this morning, which upgraded partially her bad weather which will pass through our country in the next few hours.

Based on these data, for precautionary reasons, I am leaving for Thessaly where at 3 o’clock in the afternoon it will be a Coordination, where the Police, Fire, Army and Local Government forces have been deployed anyway”, said the Minister of Climate Crisis and of Civil Protection after the completion of the Risk Assessment Committee meeting.

In addition, Mr. Kikilias emphasized that the meteorologists and the Risk Assessment Committee are talking about a bad weather which will affect -mainly- in the afternoon, evening hours and until dawn in Thessaly.

At the same time, according to information that emerged from the Commission meeting, the possibility of issuing messages is being considered 112 in the areas expected to be affected by severe weather events.

“I am going there because the area is burdened and the field there so we have to show due care”, the minister pointed out while mentioning that the bad weather is expected to pass through other areas as well, such as Pieriathe Northern Eviathe Sporadesthe North East Aegean Sea and maybe a piece of Halkidiki.

“I repeat, of short duration from what is seen with a volume of rain of about 90mm in 12 hours or in total from what I see of 120mm in 24 hours.

Based on the damaged infrastructures and problems in Thessaly since the previous major disaster, we think – and for this reason we have already moved in the last 24 hours – the whole state apparatus he must be ready there as well”, underlined Mr. Kikilias.
