Also, the mandatory home delivery of diplomas, driver’s licenses and I.X. plates to the interested parties, via courier, the costs of which will be covered by the Region of Attica itself.
Extraordinary meeting with the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, Konstantinos Kyranakis and the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christina Alexopoulou
The use of the relevant services by citizens only digitally is expected to lead to the complete suppression of the phenomenon of corruption that has been recorded for years in the Directorate of Transport of the Attica Region, as announced by the Regional Governor, Attica Nikos Hardalia, during a meeting he had with the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, Konstantinos Kyranaki and Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christina Alexopoulou. The relevant initiatives follow today’s decision by Mr. Hardalia to streamline the transport services of the Region, as 50 employees of the General Directorate of Transport, including 7 Directors and 20 heads of departments, as well as those charged with criminal or disciplinary offenses, will be transferred immediately.
“We are putting an end to opaque procedures and “bags”. By June, the procedures for the issuance of copies of driving and traffic licenses, as well as for the removal of withholdings, will be processed digitally only, while in the near future the same will happen with the transfer of vehicles as well as with the renewal of driving licenses, including digital medical records. At the same time, we are expanding the digitization of the procedures for obtaining a driver’s license in all the Regional Units of Attica, as in the next period the appointments – both for the theoretical and the practical examination – will be booked by prospective drivers exclusively and only electronically, » emphasized Mr. Hardalias, presenting the new relevant services.
At the same time, from June the initial granting of a driver’s license will also be put into operation, while in the near future additional digital services will be activated, such as the integrated information system for theoretical exams, the extension of a valid driver’s license, the temporary electronic immobilization of a truck or bus. ., the transfer of commercial vehicles and the inclusion of procedures in the network of Citizen Service Centers (CSC).
Also, the mandatory home delivery of diplomas, driver’s licenses and I.X. plates to the interested parties, via courier, the costs of which will be covered by the Region of Attica itself.
“We are improving the service of the citizen, reducing his suffering to almost zero. We save resources and man-hours from our competent services. And most importantly, we ensure the legality of every service provided by the Transport Directorate of the Region” added the Regional Governor of Attica. And he concluded: “New technologies enable us to offer what we owe to citizens: high-quality services, easy, reliable, efficient, efficient, with maximum speed and with absolute clarity. By continuing our impeccable cooperation with the competent ministry and guided by the valuable tool of gov.gr, we will continue to offer ever higher quality, more innovative services to the citizen”.
Create a “Smart Room”
The next steps of the Attica Region include the creation of a “Smart Room”, which will record data in real time. In that way:
• The experience and service of the citizens is optimized, as on the one hand the submitted requests will now be monitored, in real time, per regional unit and on the other hand their comparative mapping becomes possible.
• Transparency is achieved and the removal of bureaucratic delays.
• The performance of the information systems themselves is optimized, as it becomes easy to capture the reasons why a request is “stuck” for a longer time than the average or in which regional unit a number of requests is observed, also greater than the average.
• The possibility is ensured for targeted interventions, by stage, as well as for speeding up procedures in the event that any difficulties are identified in the completion of requests.
After the end of the extraordinary meeting, the Regional Governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, stated: “In cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Governance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, we are proceeding with the complete digitization of the Attica Region. We are leveraging the eight existing digital tools until June and from June onwards, we are creating another six new digital services. At the same time, the Region of Attica is ready to proceed until the end of the year, with door-to-door delivery of diplomas, driving licenses and license plates. cars via courier at the expense of the Region of Attica, without the slightest financial burden on the citizens. The aim is to stop any live contact at the counter of each service.
We understand that there are pathogens and arrhythmias that affect the operation of our services. We put a definitive end to all that is happening, with brave decisions by removing from their positions the employees whose behavior has provoked public sentiment. We are working hard so that the Region of Attica opens new roads. We assume our responsibility and our debt towards every citizen of the basin”.
Welcoming the new services of the Region, the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, Konstantinos Kyranakis, stated that: “The Region of Attica is the first to take such a bold digital step. Our priority at the Ministry of Digital Governance and Dimitris Papastergiou is to support the effort of widespread digitization, as this can contribute not only to the reduction of citizens’ suffering, but also as a blow to the phenomena of corruption where they are likely to exist”.
For her part, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christina Alexopoulou, stated that: “The goal of the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Regional Governor of Attica, as confirmed by our meeting today, is the uninterrupted service of the citizens. Our goal is to reduce red tape and find every way so that digitization can be the way to fight any phenomenon of corruption, which treats no one with honor and makes citizens experience difficult situations.
At the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, as political leadership, always in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Governance, we digitize many of the procedures related to transport, such as the procedure for issuing license plates, for issuing traffic permits, etc.
We will do whatever it takes, we will work very hard and methodically to get everything done transparently so that we can talk about clean, ‘green’ transport by 2030. And when we talk about ‘clean’ transport, we mean everything the levels”.
