The 58-year-old presented his victims with business plans accompanied by the expected profits that their investment would bring
He was arrested yesterday morning in the area of Glyfada, by police officers of the Property Rights Protection Department of the Attica Security Directorate 58-year-old man against whom a case file was filed for fraud by complicity and by continuationmoney laundering and breach of personal data legislation.
In particular, according to ELAS, the 58-year-old approached some people and convinced them to proceed with the payment of fundsin order to participate in the establishment of a company which aims to establish other betting companies.
After presenting them with business plans accompanied by the expected profits that their investment would bring, he convinced them to proceed with the payment of the requested sums of money.
The accused, in order to reinforce the assurances about the success of their investment, sent text messages confirming the profits they were allegedly making.
However, the planned transactions did not appear in the company bank account, while the business license was not issued, as had been pre-agreed.
Finally, the 58-year-old requested payment of a further sum of money under the pretext of increasing the company’s capital, while it was established that he had created a personal profile in another betting company with the information of his victim, without his consent.
In a search of his possessions and at his home, the sum of 40,400 euros, desktop and laptop computers, mobile phones, hard drives, usb, 2 watches, debit cards and handwritten notes were found and confiscated.
As pointed out by the Police, the financial damage caused amounts to 220,600 euros.
The arrested person was taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Athens.
