Five of the 32 defendants who were brought to court this morning have already pleaded guilty to the three investigators handling the case of the criminal supporters’ organization blamed for the murderous naval flare attack on police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis.

With the apologies of the 32, the first phase of the criminal case is completed today regarding the positions expressed to the judicial officials by the persons arrested in the major operation of the police authorities for the murder of the policeman and the action of a criminal organization of followers.
From yesterday’s apology procedure of 31 defendants, seven were deemed remand. Among them, the manager of a well-known trapper who is accused of running the criminal organization, along with four other co-accused. All five, according to the indictment, are also facing the crime of moral complicity in the murder of the policeman.
The defendant in question, who in the past had criminal involvement in fan cases, allegedly denies what is attributed to him, claiming that at the time of the incidents outside the “Melina Merkouri” stadium in Rentis, he was in a fast food.
The defendant attributes his involvement in the case to his refusal to be placed in a proposed witness protection program in order to testify about evidence he allegedly had no knowledge of.
