Eggs with influences from artificial intelligence and TikTok
This year’s Easter in the pastry shops of Thessaloniki has gone to another level, with imagination and ingenuity breaking all the counters. Some confectioners, in fact, went above and beyond and gave this festive season their best. In the windows of confectionery shops there are chocolate eggs … eye-catchers, chocolate has also been invaded by artificial intelligence, Messi made of chocolate and bun flavor becomes rapturous and TikTok … is eaten!
Chocolate and egg barn for …omelet for dessert
It is early morning and dozens of eggs are on the straw in the center of Thessaloniki. They were not born by hens, but the idea of the chocolate barn was “born” in the mind of the well-known and award-winning confectioner Giorgos Avgeros, who this year put the chocolate in …the village’s barn and chicken coop.
“This year we have as a motto “return to the village” and we have tried to make the products from a hen house or a barn look as real as possible. All the eggs look as if someone has just collected them and they have almost every detail from their shell to their inside”, explains Mr. Augerou, describing that if someone takes it in their hands and breaks it, the … yolk which in this case is from Mango and Passion Fruit and the ..virtual egg white from white chocolate mousse, so it will definitely not be an omelette, but a delicious dessert!
“Optical illusion is what intrigues us as an idea and it’s so creative to make something believable with chocolate as a material. It’s not something easy, nor simple, but the feeling of completion is incredible, when they tell me: “but it’s like real!”. We are affected by what the illusion causes, but the flavors and sweetness are real,” notes Mr. Avgeros.
In fact, even the packaging in which the chocolate barn eggs have been put is similar to the one you find on the store shelf, so much so that if you put them side by side, you will hardly be able to distinguish the chocolate one from the original six.
Eggs with goals, superheroes, TikTok and artificial intelligence influences
Pepi Beza has not left the confectionery workshop she maintains in Pylaia, Thessaloniki, where the sweets of the festive season are prepared, with a large dose of children’s fairy tales, super heroes, movie stars and Messi and Haaland in great demand.
“They have ordered us almost everything. From a candle – chocolate, which it is understood that no one will light on Easter, to a cake – Easter basket, because there are also birthdays during the Easter season, so they chose to put a festive touch by blowing out their candles. There are many orders for the bun-flavored birthday cake and the Easter basket cake,” says Ms. Beza.
Chocolate eggs with elements from fashion and creations of famous designers also have a prominent place in the showcase. For young and old football fans, on top of the eggs, their favorite players from the Greek and foreign leagues give them passes.
According to Ms. Beza, the pre-orders have been around for a while now, with the chocolate eggs turning into works of art and the demands increasing as time goes by, with the bar for her being raised even higher and artificial intelligence to is gaining ground, as several have asked to put images on their chocolate eggs that refer to her or even a chocolate robot.
“TikTok, which has entered our lives, is not lacking in chocolate eggs and covers a large age range from younger to older ages, however, baptisms are mainly the ones that ask for one with the famous platform,” notes Ms. Beza.
