The established offer of Easter love meals to the homeless of Piraeus was carried out for another year by the Municipality of Piraeus in collaboration with the Public Benefit Municipal Enterprise.

The offer of Easter meals started today, Holy Saturday and will end on the Tuesday after Easter.

The Public Benefit Municipal Enterprise of Piraeus will offer Easter meals to homeless people living in the port of Piraeus, at the Piraeus Homeless Hostel, to beneficiaries of the “Housing and Work” program and to beneficiaries registered in the lists of the Public Benefit Municipal Enterprise of Piraeus, also on Easter Sunday, Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday.

The Mayor of Piraeus, Yiannis Moralis, said:

“The offering of meals to our fellow human beings who live in difficult conditions is an established social solidarity initiative of KO.D.E.P. As a Municipal Authority we make every effort 365 days a year, having created a “net” of social protection in the city, with the offer of food, medicines, basic necessities and with a series of extended actions.

The Municipality of Piraeus will continue to show its social face, which I believe is an obligation, but also our moral duty.

I would like to congratulate KO.D.E.P., its President Yiannis Voidonikolas and all those who contributed to this important social action.

The President of the Public Beneficial Municipal Enterprise of Piraeus, Yiannis Voidonikolas, said:

“Today we came close to our fellow human beings who live under difficult conditions, in order to wish them for the Holy Days of Easter, but also to offer them the minimal joy of the resurrection and the Easter meal.

We, at the Public Benefit Municipal Enterprise of Piraeus, implementing programs specifically for the city’s homeless population, are close to the city’s homeless every day throughout the year, covering all their basic living needs, through the weekly streetwork of our team of social workers.

I hope that this year’s Resurrection of the Lord will be a unique opportunity to return to solidarity and hope.
