Police officers from the Ierapetra Security Department arrested a 41-year-old supermarket owner at noon on Holy Saturday, who is accused of violating the law on flares and fireworks.
His arrest took place in the context of a control carried out at his business, where a total of 3,290 pyrotechnic items were found and confiscated.
Specifically, in his store in Ierapetra, approximately 3,300 items were found – dynamite and “garlic sticks”.

“A citizen was arrested yesterday (04.05.2024) at noon, in the area of ​​the Municipality of Ierapetra, by police officers of the Ierapetra Security Department, accused of violations of the Legislation on flares and fireworks.
In particular, in the context of targeted actions and special actions, prepared by the General Regional Police Directorate of Crete to deal with the illegal sale – trade and by extension the use of sparklers and firecrackers, yesterday (04.05.2024) at noon by police officers of the above Service was carried out control over a business held by the national.
During the inspection, a total of 3,290 pyrotechnic items were found and confiscated.
