The lawyers of the mother and sister of the unfortunate 28-year-old woman report that the Psychiatric Hospital of Korydallos Prisoners “impermissibly obstructed the timely examination of the accused, motivated by his benefit”
In a complaint that the psychiatric examination of the perpetrator of the murder of Kyriaki Griva was obstructed due to the responsibility of the authorities of the Korydallos Psychiatric Hospitaloutside the Department of Saints Anargyri, they proceed with a press release issued by the defense attorneys for the Class of the victim’s mother and sister, Elena Tzoulis and Yiannis Apatsidis.
The two advocates cited “reasons to ensure the integrity of the ongoing investigative processbut also according to Conscience” state that the Psychiatric Hospital of Korydallos Prisoners “as legally represented, impermissibly obstructed the timely examination of the accused, by the appointed expert and the appointed technical advisers of the victims, in our opinion motivated by his benefit”.
In the press release of the two lawyers it is mentioned “On 20-04-2024 the psychiatric expert opinion was to be carried outbut her action was thwarted, for absolutely suspicious and unserviceable reasons, with the corresponding addressing of non-existent accusations against Mrs. Anacritria, that allegedly she should have informed the Psychiatric Hospital of Prisoners of Korydallos about the examination, which is absolutely untrue. Based on the “official report” of an employee of the Psychiatry, who, in fact, is completely incompetent to answer, and whose “report” is used by the Director completely non-existent, but also from the consideration of all the elements, it is proven that, while the appointed by us, a technical consultant psychiatrist was in possession of his appointment, in order to jointly examine the accused with the expert, the performance of the expert opinion was obstructed, in order to postpone, and without our consent”.
They also emphasize: “From all the information that has come to our attention, it emerges, without hesitation, a completely suspicious treatment of the specific accused, compared to other prisoners, who remain “sacked” in the Korydallos Judicial Prisons, and do not have the favorable privilege of being transferred to the Psychiatric Hospital, and of being monitored by a working University Professor, particularly experienced in dealing with particularly well-known cases from the past, with all that entails”.
In the Press Release it is also stated that the lawyers of Kyriaki’s mother and sister “if it becomes necessary and the proper institutional protection is provided by the Authorities, in the next few days we will file a request for exemption against the appointed expert, and we will also ask to be informed of all the documents kept at the Psychiatric Hospital for the specific accused. Of course, it is at the discretion of the competent Investigative and Prosecutorial Authorities, whether they themselves will request his possible ex officio exemption”.
Finally, Ms. Tzoulis and Mr. Apatsidis appeal to the Ministry of Justice to investigate “in general what happened in the Korydallos Judicial Prisons and the Korydallos Detainee Psychiatric Hospital, and to ensure that the Principles of Equality and Impartiality apply to all prisoners , and the conducted expert opinions are conducted with purely medical criteria, de lege artis psychiatric forensics”.
