From the 9th to the 12th of May 2024, Rethymnon, Crete will live to the rhythm of the 39th Panhellenic Research Cultural Information (P.A.P.E.)
From the 9th to the 12th of May 2024, Rethymno, Crete will live to the rhythm of the 39th Panhellenic Scouting Cultural Enlightenment (P.A.P.E.), an exciting event organized by the Hellenic Scout Corps and taking place in Crete for the first time , on the occasion of the celebration of 110 years of Scouts in Crete.
More than 1,000 Explorers, teenagers aged 15 to 18, from all over Greece, will gather in the beautiful city of Rethymno, to experience an unforgettable four days full of history, culture, and team spirit.
“P.A.P.E.” was held for the first time in 1983, with the aim of enabling Explorers to present objects of primary research related to culture, environment and society. “P.A.P.E” takes place every year in a different city and is the biggest cultural meeting of teenagers in our country.
In the context of P.A.P.E. they will have the opportunity to:
– To get to know in depth the rich history and culture of Rethymno, participating in educational games, guided tours of monuments and museums, and cultural events.
– To present the skills they have acquired in various activities, such as dance, theater, music, literature, photography, mobile app creation.
– To collaborate with other Explorers from all over Greece, building friendships and strengthening their team spirit.
– To experience values such as solidarity, volunteering, and environmental protection.
At the same time, the following are carried out:
– Concert of musical groups
– Competitions: plays, dance groups, poetry and literature,
– Exhibitions & contests: photography, comics, sketches and cartoons, apps, memes,
– Festival: short films, free theme and TV spots with this year’s theme ‘FoMO – Fear Of Missing Out’.
During the P.A.P.E. a number of parallel events are also held such as:
– prisma “Life Stories – Goals of Change” which hosts charismatic people, with fascinating personal stories of life inspiration, being the trigger for intense reflection and discussions
This year’s speakers at prisma will be:
• Eftychia Pentaraki, war correspondent
• Gloria Konstantoudaki, biologist
• Kelly Loufaki, Paralympian
• Panagiotis Karaiskos, marathon runner
– Forum, free expression of the opinions of teenagers, on an important topic of our social life, which has been chosen
– Operation of a radio station – web radio
– Creative workshops (hands on workshops)
P.A.P.E. is a unique experience for the teenagers – Explorers, as it gives them the opportunity to meet new people, discover themselves, and get in touch with the rich heritage of Greece, this year in Rethymno the “city of letters”.
The action is co-organized by the Region of Crete and the Municipality of Rethymno and with the support of the Hellenic Red Cross – Rethymno Regional Department, the Crete Women’s Club and the Greek Girls’ High School – Rethymno Branch.
The participants will arrive in Crete with the kind sponsorship of Aegean airlines, for air transportation and Attica group and Minoan lines, for boat transportation.
All creative workshops are held with the support of the Vodafone Foundation as part of the Generation Next digital skills training program.
