British documentary reveals palaestra and private room where teenage Alexander and future king washed

The impressive discovery is presented in the last episode (6th) of the third season of the series documentary by the British historian Bettany Hughes “Hidden Treasures” (Bettany Hughes – Treasures of the World), which will be shown on May 11 by Channel 4.

“It’s the most amazing sight, seeing the Goats being excavated and restored. There is a huge drain cut into the rock and a communal bathroom. Here Alexander the Great would bathe with his companions, his famous lover Hephaestion and all those young men who traveled with him on campaigns.
His bedroom has not yet been located, but all the rooms of the palace are there,” said Bethany Hughes, among others.
