The father of the newborn also “bent”, confessing that he was the one who threw it in a trash can in the Vravrona area.
According to information from skai.gr, when the police informed him that the newborn was found in a landfill in a bag, the man confessed that he threw away the newborn. He allegedly told the police:
“I didn’t kill the child, he was stillborn. I threw it away because I was afraid I would be accused of murder. I was scared, I didn’t know what to do.”
Regarding the blow to the head, he claimed that it was caused when he threw it.
When he went to the hospital with bleeding his wife claimed to the doctors that it is due to sexual intercourse she had with her husband. Today, however, information states that he “broke down” and told the doctors about what happened.
The mother of the newborn is hospitalized under guard in Alexandra, while the father is also detained at the local AT.

Speaking to skai.gr, the deputy mayor for Environment, Cleanliness, Recycling, Circular Economy, Civil Protection and Sunlighting of the Municipality of Markopoulos Mesogaia said:
“I saw the child. Head compressed. His little hand was sticking out. In the blood. In the trash. According to experts, the one who killed the child was caught on camera. They threw it in the bin. We spent that time picking up trash, as we do every time. We were warned by the police not to throw anything away. At first they told us they were looking for valuables, and then we learned it was a child. We found it in the bag, wrapped together with greens.”
