Possessed and had available for distribution a total of at least -34- files with content of sexual abuse of minors, apparently under 12 years of age
He was arrested by the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate of Northern Greece yesterday, Tuesday, May 14, 2024, 45 years old native, in the region of Magnesiaagainst whom a criminal case was filed for child pornography.
It was preceded by the proper utilization of data and information of a foreign organization, through EUROPOL, from the proper utilization of which it became possible to identify a user of a social networking and cloud computing application, who possessed and had available for sharing a total of at least -34- files containing the sexual abuse of minors , apparently under 12 years of age.
From the thorough and detailed digital analysis, it emerged that the disputed electronic traces fall within the scope of competence of Greek internet and telephone service providers.
The above was brought to the attention of the Athens District Attorney’s Office, while from the further preliminary police investigation, the details of the specific person involved were identified and his place of residence was revealed.
In a search carried out at his home, in the presence of a judicial officer, the following were found and confiscated: mobile phone with SIM card and memory card, hard disk, which was extracted from a stationary computer, -2- memory cards, -2- USB portable storage devices and optical digital disc (DVD). In fact, during the on-site investigation carried out, his involvement in the criminal acts under investigation was identified, while video files with minor pornography content were found stored on his mobile phone -2-.
The seized digital evidence was sent to the Sub-Directorate of Criminal Investigations of Northern Greece for laboratory examination.
The arrested person was taken to the competent prosecutor’s office and referred to an Investigator.
