The Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis, refers to the reduction in the number of pending pensions in his post, stating that the matter is no longer being discussed because it was addressed with a systematic effort by the Ministry of Labor and EFKA.

The post of Mr. Hatzidakis

“Why are we no longer discussing pending pensions? Is it because the matter has been dealt with? Yes! Actually. Today’s situation has nothing to do with the one that existed a few years ago with the very long waits that you all remember. A systematic effort was made by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and EFKA. Forces were rearranged, new organizational systems were used, and human resources from the private sector were mobilized.

All this caused quite a reaction from all those who pretend to be progressives, while they are afraid of the new. I was Minister of Labor and I remember it very well! I’m sure you remember it too. And what we didn’t hear: “Neoliberal ideologies, unconstitutional regulations, mockery of pensioners.” However, the issue of pending pensions was dealt with and that is what counts!

The effort has continued since I left the Ministry of Labour. And a few days ago, with great satisfaction, I saw the International Insurance Agency (ISSA) award EFKA for this very great achievement for Greek standards! Well done to the colleagues who continued the effort, well done to the EFKA Administrations, well done to all those from the public and private sectors who helped to achieve this great progress. It’s a big step, it’s an achievement for our country!”.
