Seven injured and orphaned baby deer has been treated by the Kastoria Environmental Protection Society in collaboration and under the supervision of ANIMA – Wildlife Protection and Care Association. As Nikos Panagiotopoulos from the Protection Society explains to APE-MPE, starting this year, together with ANIMA, they are invited to support the care and upbringing of baby deer.

“The care and accommodation of the animals that come from various regions in Greece is done in places in the wider area of Kastoria, while the expenses are covered by ANIMA. So far we host 7 fawns, adults and babies, who have either been injured in traffic accidents or have been orphaned,” says Mr. Panagiotopoulos. Especially young fawns, until they can be reintegrated, should remain at least a year in care and be fed at regular intervals, with a special milk formula.

“The expenses, especially the veterinary ones as some deer are injured by traffic accidents, are a lot,” says Mr. Panagiotopoulos, inviting those who want to contribute financially to contact ANIMA.
