The Single-Member Misdemeanor Court of Thessaloniki imposed a total sentence of 25 months imprisonment, with a three-year suspension, on the president of PAOK Ivan Savvidis, for entering the Toumba stadium with a weapon, during the episodic match between PAOK and AEK, for the football championship. Super League, in March 2018.
The expatriate businessman was found guilty of entering the stadium illegally (without the aggravating circumstances of the sports law), as well as of possessing a weapon.
The same court sentenced the then sports director of the “black and white” PA, Lubos Michel, to 10 months in prison, with a three-year suspension, who was found guilty of entering the stadium illegally, while he was acquitted for the act of launching threats, an action that indictment, was directed against the referee of that match, George Kominis.
In both, the alleviation of the previous legal life was recognized.
In addition, with the same decision, the two above were imposed the ancillary penalty of being banned from attending and attending PAOK sports events, of any sport, for three years and of their appearance at the police station of the place of residence. The specific sentence, however, was decided to be suspended in view of the Court of Appeal.
It is recalled that the sports justice had punished the major shareholder of PAOK FC with a ban on entering the stadiums for three years and a fine of 100,000 euros, while L. Michel had been banned from entering for three months and a fine of 15,000 euros.
The Single-Member Misdemeanor Court finally acquitted the six members of Iv. Savvidis who was accused of the same case.
