Industrial competitiveness, the implementation of the objectives of the European Green Agreement, as well as the so-called energy trilemma affordable – secure – liberated energy in the next five years were the main topics of the panel.
The president and CEO of the PPC group G. Stassis referred to European unity and the three main pillars at European level for the acceleration of the “green” transition, economy – sustainability – energy security, speaking at Eurelectric’s Power Summit 2024 conference, which for the first time this year it was held in Greece, hosted by the PPC group.
According to the information from PPC, on the second day of the conference a discussion entitled EXECUTIVE DIALOGUE- Lighting the way was held, in which – in addition to the head of PPC group and vice-president of Eurelectric Mr. Stassi – Mrs. Attila Steiner State Secretary for Energy participated and Climate Policy, Ministry of Energy, Hungary, Markus Rauramo CEO, Fortum and VP, Eurelectric and Károly Mátrai CEO, MVM Group, with Mrs. Sasha Twining in the role of moderator.

In the question about the upcoming European elections and what our course should be, Mr. Stassis emphasized the word unity, as the most important parameter for the European green transition, which, as he said, was highlighted even more by the recent Ukrainian crisis and the successful management on behalf of Europe. As Mr. Stassis characteristically stated: “A strong electrification is necessary for all of us and therefore we should all work together to push in this direction and intensify the relevant actions – regulatory framework, European legislation».
In his presentation, he also highlighted the issue of social acceptance and inclusion as critical success factors for the new mass electrification, with educating citizens about the climate and the importance of RES being essential to the new “green social contract”.
Finally, he summarized the main pillars for the energy transition and the development of energy distribution networks in Europe in the tripartite economy – sustainability – energy security.
