The decisive role of three people who managed to win the trust of traffickers.
A new load of 100 kg of cocaine was found in a container this time transporting shrimp, next to the one found yesterday in the port of Piraeus.
It seems that three individuals who lost the confidence of the traffickers played a decisive role in locating the cocaine shipments.
The three, now protected witnesses, helped to reveal the actions of this particular ring of drug dealers.
Of the aforementioned, however, a key witness is considered to be one who, in fact, has the code name “Athanassios Boulougaris” in the court documents.
According to the report, “Athanassios Boulougaris” allegedly approached the drug traffickers declaring himself to be a man of the port who has the ability to clear the cargo with the frozen shrimps and is therefore able to take the 210 kilos of cocaine out of the port.
He was in direct negotiations with the alleged mastermind of the ring, a 48-year-old Albanian citizen with whom he even met a few times in a well-known cafe in Alimos.
Their contacts started at the end of March and two days earlier he managed to convince the group of traffickers that he was able to take the cargo out of the port and transfer it to a rented warehouse on Agios Dimitriou Street in Neo Faliro.
The warehouse was rented by the Police and so when the drug dealers visited it they were confronted by the authorities.
Among the four arrested there is also a Greek who, as a Spanish speaker, (he was arrested in 2012 for a similar offense in Costa Rica) had taken over the contacts with the cartel members using a device for encrypted communications.
As for the second container, it weighed 100 kilograms and the drugs were identically concealed under squid as declared cargo.
In any case, the authorities do not connect the two cases.
