Ford is preparing to bring to Europe the most advanced and daring Mustang ever. The Mustang GTD, which will make its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be tested on the roads of Europe in preparation for its official performance time trial in the fourth quarter of 2024 at the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife.

“We tested the Mustang GTD extensively in North America at various locations including Sebring International Raceway and Virginia International Raceway. All with the goal of creating a car that can complete a lap of the Nürburgring in less than seven minutes,” said Greg Goodall, Mustang GTD Chief Program Engineer. “Driving on European roads and testing at the Nürburgring is the next step, before the car is officially timed there later this year.”

Built to take on the best, following its European debut at Le Mans, the Mustang GTD will be present at the 24 Hours of Spa and the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The first appearance of the Mustang GTD in Europe will be accompanied by a new, narrative web series that will delve into the individual parts and mechanics that make this Mustang the ultimate supercar, through realistic computer-generated renderings that will show off the innovative suspension and the turbocharged V8 engine aimed at more than 800 horsepower.

Fans of the model can visit the Mustang or Ford Motor Company Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube or X channels, as well as the Mustang GTD page on Ford.com, for the latest news and information as it happens.

The Mustang GTD’s arrival in Europe comes as Ford prepares to start accepting applications from potential customers. The application window for North American consumers closed on May 21, with more than 7,500 interested parties applying to purchase a MY 2025 or 2026 Mustang GTD. Applicants have a wide range of interests, with motorsports the most prominent. More specifically, more than 20% of the traffic to the Mustang GTD request website comes from the motorsports community. Also, one in four own a Mustang, while one in five say they own a competing model with a similar level of performance.

“With the new Mustang GTD, we set out to build a racing car for the road, which has the heart of a Mustang but also the will to compete with the best in Europe. Since applications for North American consumers began, we have seen a high response from customers,” said Jim Owens, Mustang GTD Brand Manager. “Whether they own a sports car from a competitor or another Mustang in their garage, they understand the racing performance of the Mustang GTD.”

More information on applications for interest in Europe will be announced in June.
