After instability, Anvisa waives document for those traveling to Brazil

by

Brazilians who are abroad are having difficulties filling out the Traveler’s Health Declaration (DSV), a document required by Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) for entry into Brazil.

The agency’s system showed instability this Thursday (24). The failure worries Brazilians and tourists, since the airlines forbid those who do not present the document from entering the plane.

Sought, Anvisa says that, after the technical failure was detected, it informed the airlines not to require the form, and that this waiver is valid until 11:59 pm on Saturday (26), Brasília time.

“It is noteworthy, however, that the exceptional and temporary exemption from the DSV does not exempt travelers from complying with other Brazilian health regulations [contra Covid] in force for entry into the country”, says the agency in a note.

“Anvisa is taking the necessary measures for the prompt reestablishment of the form, apologizing for any inconvenience.”

The DSV has, in addition to personal data, flight information and whether the person has flu-like symptoms, such as fever, cough, sore throat and shortness of breath.

In addition to the form completed 24 hours before the flight, those who are abroad and will enter Brazil must present proof of complete vaccination carried out at least 14 days before the trip and antigen test carried out up to 24 hours before boarding, or of the RT type -PCR up to 72 hours before boarding.

The vaccination certificate started to be charged in December by Anvisa. At the end of the year, period when the number of foreign tourists traveling to Brazil increases, the sheet showed that many stated that proof of immunization was randomly requested by Brazilian authorities.

In social networks, countless Brazilians and foreigners complain about the instability in the system. There are also those who say that airlines have banned Brazilians from boarding without the document.

Administrator Gabriel Cruz, 31, is one of the Brazilians who were unable to complete the DSV. He needs to return from a trip to Colombia. With the return flight scheduled for this Friday (25), he was worried about the procedure.

“It is a business that could be collected in a more practical way, and everyone is already obliged to test themselves before returning to Brazil. Only those who test negative get on the plane”, he says.

“It’s a tremendous loss to have to stay for days longer and reschedule tickets, get a hotel, food. Apart from the appointments you miss”, he says, assuming a scenario in which he couldn’t return.

The Anvisa system had problems at least twice, at the end of November and in the first days of the year. In January, there was a server failure that automatically triggers the confirmation messages for filling the DSV.
