The second weekend of Taste São Paulo, a gastronomic event that takes place in the capital of São Paulo until June 9th, started this Friday (31st) for an audience that arrived right away for the opening of the event, at Villa-Lobos, at 5pm, when the sunset lit up the park.

Bundled up, people walked around the stalls of the restaurants participating in this edition of the event, which invited 31 homes.

Taste’s intention is to offer participants’ flagships in smaller portions, so that everyone can try different options. Thus, each place serves three snacks from the fixed menu and another prepared exclusively for Taste. Prices range from R$20 to R$55.

Folha is a partner of the event and subscribers have a 20% discount on tickets. The newspaper also has a stand with activities and giveaways at Taste.

On Friday, people were busy deciding what to eat and considering hot dishes as options, which could also be combined with drinks to warm up the body.

Those who went in the late afternoon were able to take advantage of promotions such as glasses of Grand Cru wine (from R$21), which were sold on a pay-one, get-one basis.

Music was also an ally, filling the night with shows such as the Bruno Santanna Trio. In addition to the delicacies, the festival boosts the program with chef workshops — including fireworks.

In the evening, Guidara and Ligia Karazawa talked about wagyu beef, and Pedro Mirabile, José Roberto Villa Nova and Luis Fernando Palomares taught how to make termite bao seasoned with oriental sauce.

Some stands also entered the festival only from this weekend, such as the Jewish Nosh and the Taiwanese Mapu Baos. And it was the last opportunity to try Fasano’s food, which served one of the festival’s best-selling items in Brazil, tiramisu, for R$35.

The program continues throughout the weekend. Saturday (1st), for example, is the day on which Dona Carmem Virginia, from the Altar restaurant, with locations in Recife and São Paulo, cooks grilled octopus rice at 1:30 pm.

The next day, at 1pm, there are classes by chef Luiz Filipe Souza, from Evvai. Awarded with two Michelin stars, he prepares spaghetti al sugo, while Rodrigo Oliveira, from Mocotó, teaches tapioca, cocada and calda de quentão, at 2:30 pm.

Another highlight is Mike Johnson, from the American restaurant Sugarfire Smoke House, who prepares burgers alongside Paulo Yoller, from Meats, on Sunday, at 1:30 pm.

Taste is still happening next weekend. That’s when chef Claude Troisgros, who recently launched the gastronomic reality series Geladeiras em Ação, also on GNT, teaches a recipe for penne with shrimp and pistachios.
