After their apology to the responsible investigator of Heraklion, the two brothers from Hersonissos who were caught with the hi-tech hashish plantation in a luxury villa that they had rented since November in the Anissaras area went their separate ways.

The 39-year-old man, who is said to have played a pivotal role in the case, was remanded in custody, while his 37-year-old brother was released on parole. In particular, he was ordered to appear twice a month before the competent police authority and to pay a monetary guarantee of 10,000 euros.

During the operation, according to police sources, very expensive high-end equipment was found, in which the big brother had allegedly “invested” and who had probably done a … thesis on the subject.

Police officers seized a quantity of approximately 11 kilograms of cannabis to be dried as well as 61 seedlings.

The two brothers were defended by the advocates Mr. Antonis Damanakis and George Kokosalis.

As for the different criminal treatment of the two brothers, Mr. Kokosalis underlined that the older brother was the one who took full responsibility for all the infrastructure that had been set up inside the villa for the cultivation of the saplings, which of course the younger had realized brother, who, however, had no substantial involvement in the whole “project”, in the defense.

“Two brothers torn apart by their teenage years due to drug use”

Mr. Kokosalis emphasized that in no case does the confiscated amount actually concern 11 kilograms of cannabis. Actually, as he said, they were whole plants, with twigs and wood that is, in the initial drying phase. This, according to counsel, means that the weight was much less than reported and the amount of dried cannabis attributed would be much less.

However, he made special reference to the profile of the two brothers, talking about two children who have been suffering from drug use since their adolescence. The long-term and extensive use of drugs resulted in them being hospitalized both as acute cases in Psychiatric clinics of public hospitals and in private ones, while they have also attended the 18 Ano program.
Now their involvement with drugs concerns the use of cannabis, with the big brother however needing, as he at least claimed, 10-15 “cigarettes” daily to be able to … survive.

All this combined with other social parameters that were allegedly taken into account, led to the younger brother not being paroled.
