Scenes from a movie took place on Friday night in the sea area off it Symis when his boats Coast Guard they spotted a speedboat with illegal immigrants.
The trafficker who accompanied them did not obey the orders of the port police and tried to escape. A chase ensued, when the smuggler abandoned the speedboat with the migrants and let it crash at high speed onto one of the two Coast Guard vessels.
The occupants all fell into the sea, from where they were rescued. During the rescue, it was found that one of the meganauts was conscious.

Evening hours yesterday, two patrol boats L.S.-EL.AKT. (P.L.S.), on patrol in the sea area of ​​Symi, spotted an inflatable speed boat (T/X) with a sufficient number of passengers, sailing at high speed, without navigation lights, towards the islet of Nimos.
Then, the P.L.S. they approached the T/X and using sound and light signals tried to immobilize it with negative results. On the contrary, the vessel developed a high speed and made dangerous maneuvers. During the manoeuvres, the operator, in order to avoid his arrest, abandoned the vessel by jumping into the sea, as a result of which the T/X sailed out of control at a high speed and collided with the stern left side of a patrol vessel L.S.- EL.AKT., despite the avoidance actions by the P.L.S.. From the impact, most of the occupants of the T/X fell into the sea.
Immediately from the crews of P.L.S. a survey of the wrecks was carried out, seventeen (17) men and one (01) minor, with no one missing, while the boat sank. Upon investigation, it was found that five (05) foreigners were injured and were given first aid, while one (01) was still conscious. From the executives L.S.-EL.AKT. actions were taken to take over (CPR) the foreigner who was conscious, resulting in his recovery. All the foreigners were taken to the port of Symi while the six (06) people were taken to the Symi Health Center, where unfortunately one (01) of the injured was found dead. Then they were transported by Patrol Boat LS-EL.AKT. in Rhodes in order to be transferred to the General Hospital of Rhodes for further medical examinations.
The foreign operator of the boat was arrested by the Port Authority of Symi, while as it emerged from the preliminary investigation, the foreigners had departed yesterday from the “DATSA” area of ​​Turkey paying the amount of four thousand (4,000) US dollars each.
