The details of the tragic incident yesterday in Arvi of Crete, where a 6-year-old boy, the little one Nicolas originally from Albania – died from drowningwhen he went for a swim in the sea.

THE mother of him, who a few months ago gave birth to his little brother Nikolas, was at home with the baby, while o father his was at work. The little boy escaped his mother’s attention and went for a bath.

As Cretapost reports, the home of the first grader’s family is very close to the sea, which allowed the child to easily reach the shore.

According to eyewitnesses, Nikos was carried away by the currents and was finally pulled to the port, where he was spotted by patrons of some cafes.

At first, as long as I saw the child’s body, they thought it was a bag floating in the water. When they realized it was a human, they immediately rushed to offer help.

The little boy was found face down, unconscious, and from that point on, the great battle to stay alive began.

According to cretalive.gr, the first call to EKAV was made at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, while until the ambulance arrived the residents who were at the scene tried to give first aid to the child. A defibrillator was used, from the local Cultural Association, while a doctor who was there also helped to avoid the fatality.

The child appeared to have a slight pulse, but it was too late. He was taken to the health center where he was pronounced dead.

Nikolas’ parents were informed and followed scenes of an ancient tragedy, while everyone in the village mobilized to help the family financially to transport the body to Albania and have the funeral there.

The president of the cultural association of Arvi, Yiannis Karpathakis, was in front of the incident, lived shocking moments that he described in Cretalive and meaningfully emphasized how in these cases, in the face of such a drama, judgments should not be made. “We must be silent. In the face of mourning we must not be judgmental.”
