The minister pointed out that through the “My Home” program, at the end of the year 9,155 new couples will have acquired their own home.
In the Prime Minister’s announcement on the extension of the existing program “My house”, said today, speaking on SKAI 100.3 radio, the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Sofia Zaharakis.
As Mrs. Zaharaki pointed out, “the prime minister is running out of room to find the 2 billion euros from European resources, i.e. from the Recovery Fund” and mentioned that there will also be an age increase, “because one of the major complaints we received in the existing program it was because those over 40 are not included. The new program will therefore not only concern young people up to 39 years of age but will be extended up to 50 years. Everything else has yet to be decided, however the Prime Minister said yesterday that a widening of the income criterion is being considered,” he added. He reminded that “today the income limit is at 24,000 euros for the couple and this increases by 3,000 euros per child, while when it is a single-parent family the income criterion increases to 27,000 euros and 3,000 per child”
The minister pointed out that through the existing “My Home” program with a total budget of 1 billion euros, by the end of the year 9,155 new couples will have acquired their own home.
He announced that so far there are 6,305 disbursed loans and emphasized that “by the end of the year, 9,155 loans will have been contracted and the same number of couples will have found their home.” “I should emphasize that the average age of the borrowers is 34 years and approximately, an average income of 16,000 euros. Everyone who knows the banking market realizes that borrowers with such a profile would be very difficult to get a loan,” he added.
He also noted that there is a special provision of zero interest and full coverage by the state for those with three children and many.
About the program “Renovate – Rent” the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family emphasized that an adjustment of the amount of the subsidy, which is currently 40% for an amount up to 10,000 euros, is being considered. He announced that to date 1,413 owners have applied to participate in the program and added: “We believe in this program, we want to improve it in order to increase the housing stock. This is also an issue in the housing battle”
