Today from 9 am to 11:30 a.m., the Mobile Health Units of the Hellenic Red Cross, in collaboration with the Municipality of Athens, will be located in Syntagma Square, where a hydration station will operate for the citizens. At the same time, they will conduct a large information campaign about the high temperatures in the city, distributing leaflets with instructions and information on first aid in cases of heat stroke.

As part of the implementation of the Civil Protection plan of the Municipality of Athens, the Municipal Police Directorate will be on increased alert from today, having on-board patrols in and around hills and groves and through unmanned aircraft systems (SmiEA – Drone) controlling and monitoring from the air. It is noted that the thermal camera, which allows the detection of temperature changes, will monitor the large green spaces in the city center. The Service’s operations center will operate on a 24-hour basis to inform other services (Fire Service, etc.) if there is a need for early intervention.

The Municipal Veterinary Clinic remains available from 8.30 am. until 7 p.m. and contact line at 210 7483967.

Finally, given the very high temperatures and for reasons of hygiene and safety, the Municipality of Athens asks citizens and businesses not to put their waste in the bins between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., as their collection will only take place in the morning and at night, since based on circulars it is deemed necessary to modify the programs in all seven Municipal Communities during adverse heat conditions.
