ELAS continues the targeted police actions, which are designed with three main directions, the prevention, prevention and treatment of crime, domestic violence and juvenile delinquency, as well as the improvement of citizens’ road safety, as stated in a relevant announcement of Body.
In this context, they took place from June 3 to 9 throughout the country, 967 special police operationsduring which they were checked 110,381 people, 4,950 were imported and 2,351 were arrested.
Also, indicatively, 274 thefts – burglaries, 25 frauds, 48 ​​vehicle thefts, 30 robberies, 8 computer frauds as well as 629 weapons and 378 drug related cases were investigated.
During the same period, the services of the Greek Police were active in dealing with the phenomenon of domestic violence, and especially the operational Offices for Dealing with Domestic Violence, which deal with the majority of incidents.
In this context, police officers across the country responded to 1,004 calls to the Immediate Action call center and 75 female victims were given the Panic Button application. In total, 508 incidents were managed, for which 332 arrests were made, while at the same time 13 victims were transported to structures with Greek Police vehicles.
It is recalled that, with the care of the Greek Police, in the region of each Police Directorate throughout the territory, one or more specially designed areas that function as “safe houses” have been secured, for the short-term safe accommodation of female victims of domestic violence, as well as members of their family, such as their minor children, who need protection.
At the same time, in order to prevent and deal with juvenile delinquency and violence between minors, with the aim of strengthening the sense of security of themselves and their parents, soft policing actions are implemented, by trained female and male police officers, in neighborhoods, squares and points that young people gather and incidents have occurred.
Thus, throughout the territory, 5,925 checks of persons have been carried out, 323 arrests have been made, 141 arrests have been made, while 322 violations have been confirmed.
Furthermore, the Traffic services carried out special outings and targeted checks, especially in large urban centers, to deal with delinquent and dangerous-anti-social driving behaviors, with the aim of the smooth and safe movement of citizens and the safeguarding of human life.
145,995 traffic checks of vehicles were carried out and 36,764 violations were confirmed, for which the corresponding administrative fines were imposed.
Indicatively, the violations confirmed, among others, concern 9,568 for illegal parking, 6,922 for excessive speed, 3,546 for not wearing a helmet, 2,370 for not having a driver’s license, 1,464 for not using a seat belt, 1,065 for driving license, 765 for drunkenness and 554 for mobile phone use while driving.
As emphasized in the relevant announcement of ELAS: “These targeted actions will continue with undiminished intensity to improve the level of road safety, the prevention and suppression of crime, the best possible protection of victims of domestic violence, but also so that no child feels unprotected and alone”.
