How the inspectors got to the drugs
In a recent incident involving cocaine hidden in bananas, AADE inspectors found at the Piraeus Customs a large quantity of cocaine, well hidden in container boxes from Ecuador which were declared to contain bananas.
As part of the special operation “Coca Banana”, and with the help of the special x-ray machine and the dog Max, the controllers found and seized 21 packages of cocaine, with a gross weight of twenty one kilograms (21 kg), with the value of the drugs estimated to be exceeds one million euros!
An x-ray scan detected organic matter in the container’s refrigeration machinery. Immediately, the inspectors, along with Max, opened the container and located the cocaine.
Now, the AADE customs inspectors are investigating, in collaboration with the men of the Attica Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate of the Hellenic Police, the ends of the international ring, in order to find the end of the thread, while, at the same time, it is being examined whether this case is also related to other cases.
It should be noted that, in the last five years alone, AADE customs inspectors, during the Coca Banana operation, whose model is also used in other actions, have identified and seized more than 3 tons of cocaine.
