Russia and China are jointly opposed to sanctions that are discriminating in global trade and making it difficult for global socio -economic development, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with the Chinese news agency Xinhua.

The two countries will continue to work to reduce reciprocal trading barriers, Putin said in an interview today, on the eve of the visit of the strong Kremlin man to China, which is Russia’s largest trading partner.

Vladimir Putin will travel to China on Sunday for a four -day official visit, first from May last year. He will initially participate in the two -day summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which will take place in Tianzin. He will then go to Beijing for talks with Chinese President Xi Jing and attend the big military parade for the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II with the official capitulation of Japan.

“Economic cooperation, trade and industrial cooperation between our countries are going through many areas”says Putin. “During my visit, we will certainly discuss further prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation and new steps to intensify it for the benefit of the peoples of Russia and China,” he adds.

Putin’s four -day visit to China follows Alaska’s historic meeting, where the Russian president and US counterpart Donald Trump discussed the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, but without remarkable progress.

Following the rupture of the West ties with Moscow due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022, China supported Russia’s economy by buying oil and selling goods – from cars to electronics -, launching bilateral trade in a record record of 2055.

Russian and China leaders had declared a strategic cooperation in 2022 “Without limits”. Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping have met more than 40 times in the last decade.
