Her deepest condolences on his passing Eleftheriou Kalogiannis expresses New Democracy with its announcement.

“The family of New Democracy today sadly says goodbye to Eleftherios Kalogiannis, one of the executives who formed its first Parliamentary Group in 1974.

Born in 1930 in Chouliarades, Ioannina, he studied at the Zosimaia School of Ioannina and at the School of Sub-Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens.

He served as a Member of Parliament for Ioannina in the 1974-1977, 1981-1985, 1985-1989, 1989-1990 and 1990-1993 parliamentary terms. He developed a dynamic public presence, worked consistently for his special homeland and was loved by his fellow citizens.

We express our deepest condolences to his family,” the statement said.

Lefteris Kalogiannis passed away at the age of 94, while his name was linked to the “grabbing” of the ballot box during the second vote for the election of Christos Sargetakis to the Presidency of the Republic on March 23, 1985.

In the first prefectural elections in 1994, he was a candidate for Prefect of Ioannina with the support of New Democracy. He prioritized the topic of water transport in the Ioannina basin, on which he subsequently wrote several articles.
